Qualcomm Reveals 5G Compute Platform For Next-Gen Applications

Qualcomm reveals 5G compute platform for next-gen applications. Wireless technology giant Qualcomm officially announced its next-generation 5G cellular platform, the Snapdragon 8cx 5G at MWC Barcelona 2019.

This new product will let PC makers connect their devices to 5G wireless networks. In 2018, the company launched the Always-Connected Pcs and the efforts go on. However, it also faced disappointment in the initial running of Snapdragon-powered laptops. At the time, the company blamed the late release of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update.

Now, this new product launch for next-gen wireless tech is expected to modernize the way people compute and communicate with Pcs.

Lenovo announced that it would launch laptops with the support of the platfrom next year. In fact, HP, Asus, Samsung, and other companies have released their Always Connected Pcs.

Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon 8cx 5G platform will raise the popularity of private 5G small-cell networks, enabling more secured and high-performance data link for businesses. The product will provide modern experience for the next generation of connected applications.

“The Snapdragon 8cx 5G is currently sampling to its customers and that the first commercial devices featuring the platform are expected to debut in “late 2019,” Qualcomm said. “Maybe by then people will have finally come around to our vision for a Snapdragon-powered, always connected future of personal computers.”

Bussinesses are now moving their interest towards small-cell networks instead of Wi-Fi. So Qualcomm is looking to mix smartphone-like capabilities and light PC, according to the company.
