Alia Bhatt starrer Jangpai Kathyawadi It was released in theaters on Friday, February 25th. The film marks the first collaboration between Alia Bhatt and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie arrived in theaters after a long wait due to the pandemic, and the wait proved to be worth it. The film is unanimously praised by audiences across the country. Late Friday night, director Karan Johar launched Alia into the film industry with his 2012 film Studnet of the year, to his Instagram Stories to share his “unbiased” review of the film. Alia’s performance in the film was praised as much as the thousands of people who flocked to theaters on the first day of release.

The director also took to Twitter and praised Bhansali. “Sanjay Bhansali weaves his magic like a pure and outstanding movie and @alaja08 is perfection! Amazing! Beyond brilliance! And that still isn’t enough! Epic performance! #GangubaiKathiawadi is going to be a massive hit! Movies are back!!!,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt was spotted traveling through Mumbai on the day of her film’s release to witness the audience’s reactions in person. From theater visits to mall visits to traveling around town on a bus, the actress spent the entire day observing people’s reactions to the movie. On Friday night, she also visited Mumbai’s famous single screen – Gaiety Galaxy – and was greeted with loud cheers and applause.
