At a summit in the Italian capital, Rome, Prime Minister Modi assured the G20 leaders that India would produce 5 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of next year. However, Prime Minister Modi sought the help of the G20 countries to get approval from the WHO for the emergency use of Kovac, the Indian Govt-19 vaccine. The vaccine is manufactured by Indian company Bharat Biotech. Modi said New Delhi could achieve the target of developing 5 billion vaccines after getting approval from the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to ANI, Prime Minister Modi attended the G20 Global Health and Global Economic Session in Rome.
