Pakistan: People chase wheat truck amid food crisis

There is severe shortage of wheat flour in many parts of Pakistan.

A video has surfaced showing the growing food crisis in Pakistan. In the video, some two-wheelers can be seen chasing the vehicle. This video is being shared a lot on social media. National Equality Party JKGPL President Professor Sajjad Raja shared the video on Twitter and said that people were chasing a truck carrying wheat.

He tweeted, “This is not a motorcycle rally, they are chasing a truck carrying wheat flour in Pakistan. They are chasing only one bag of flour. People of Jammu and Kashmir should open their eyes. The lucky ones are not Pakistanis. They are free to decide about their future. Is there any future with them?” .”

In the video, the bikers are seen waving notes and running towards the truck as soon as the truck stops. A young man managed to get a bag of flour, after which the truck was immediately surrounded by others.

As reported by news agency ANI, Pakistan is facing a severe food crisis.

Local media reported that there is a severe shortage of wheat flour in many parts of the country. Since last week, flour prices have skyrocketed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan provinces. A packet of flour is sold for 3000 Pakistani rupees.

People of Pakistan blame Islamabad and POK government for this food crisis. According to an ANI report, the government’s subsidized supply of wheat has almost completely stopped and prices of other essential commodities have also skyrocketed.

According to a report in Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper, police used batons on a crowd of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday. A mob surrounded a lorry carrying bags of subsidized wheat flour and attacked the police by throwing stones at its driver.
