Highlights of the story

  • A Singaporean student has made controversial remarks about Islam
  • 18 months probation

The controversy over the controversial remarks about the Prophet Muhammad has not lasted long, meanwhile a case has come out of Singapore in which a man was sentenced to 18 months probation for making objectionable remarks about Islam.

Sun Sikong, a 21-year-old student at Demasek Polytechnic University in Singapore, made controversial comments about Islam on Instagram.

The Sun has also been accused of making insensitive comments on Instagram about a man who had been raped. The student was convicted last month of deliberately insulting the religious feelings of Muslims.

The student is being considered for punishment for speaking out about rape and possession of pornographic images.

Sun was originally a citizen of China but is currently a citizen of Singapore.

This is the case for 2018 and 2019

The court ruled that between 2018 and 2019, the Sun made objectionable comments about Islam in its Instagram posts.

In his post, he mentions violence against Muslims, threatening to burn Islamic religious books and insulting the teachings of Islam.

The student said he would not have had any problem with the massacre of Muslims if he had been on his bus.

In 2018 and 2019, we would like to inform you that no police complaint has been registered against the student for making this controversial statement. This is a kind of temporary post that was deleted within 24 hours.

Sensitive comments were also made on the woman who was raped

However, the matter came to light again on June 7, 2020, when a woman victim of rape described her ordeal on social media. The Sun took a screenshot of it and posted emotionless comments on it.

The act caused a great stir on social media. 62 complaints were lodged with the police in this regard.

Sun should be indoors from 10pm to 6am and 60 hours of community service under an 18-month probationary period. As punishment, Sun’s parents were asked to pay a $ 5,000 bond.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Netemasek Polytechnic said the Sun had been suspended for two semesters in June 2020 following an investigation by the school.

Explain that probation is a social punishment under which the offender follows the sentence during daily activities such as going to school or working.
