Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud became the leader of the TTP in 2018 after Mullah Fazlullah was killed in a US drone strike inside Afghanistan. Mulla Fazlullah was also known as Mulla Radio. When asked if the TTP had been damaged in the recent attacks, Mehsud declined to give details. However, he acknowledged that there was internal conflict within the DTP. The Taliban refused to mediate in the peace talks and the TTP agreed to the talks because of their pressure.

What is FATA and why is TTP interested?
The full name of the FATA is the Tribal Areas of the Federal Administration. It is a tribal area which is directly controlled by the Central Government of Pakistan. The FATA’s border is with Afghanistan. The whole area is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. For this reason it does not fall into the paradise of terrorists. In the same area there is a market for illegal weapons, with guns being sold in shops as vegetables. This area is the preferred location for TTP. If Khyber Pakhtunkhwa falls under state control, its special facilities will cease to exist.
