Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law recognizing two provinces occupied by the rebels in Ukraine as independent states. Russia’s decision is expected to heighten tensions amid Western fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

After this identity, Luhansk and Donetsk are now independent countries in Russia’s view. Putin made the announcement while addressing the nation on television. Not only this, Putin also attacked Ukraine with his statements. He also refused to recognize Ukraine as a country. Putin said Ukraine would soon move toward developing a nuclear bomb.

In fact, President Vladimir Putin said in his speech that the independence of the two separate regions of eastern Ukraine would soon be recognized. Putin said Russia would recognize the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lukansk as separate states.
