Pakistan News:
Pakistan by-elections bring good news for Imran Khan. The by-elections make it clear that the public wants to support Imran Khan. Imran’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won six National Assembly and two Punjab Assembly constituencies in the by-elections. It is hoped that the by-elections will pave the way for the general elections. In fact, it is a test of major political parties.
Imran won five seats
For the first time in the country, Imran is contesting in seven constituencies. PTI won six out of eight National Assembly seats. The PTI chief won in Peshawar, Mardan, Sarshad, Faisalabad and Nankana Sahib, defeating the ruling coalition’s candidates. However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lost a crucial National Assembly seat in Multan, where Ali Musa Gilani, son of former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, defeated Mehr Bano Qureshi, daughter of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
According to media reports, PTI has also won Mardan National Assembly constituency and Khanewal Provincial Assembly constituency. According to the results, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz also won a provincial assembly seat, but trailed the PTI elsewhere. Elections were held for a total of 11 seats, including eight National Assembly seats and three provincial assembly seats.
Polling was held amid sporadic violence
Earlier, the polling started at 8 am yesterday and continued peacefully in some constituencies and witnessed intense political activity in the country with sporadic clashes in some places. As polling began yesterday, Khan asked the people of their respective constituencies to vote in large numbers. In a tweet, Khan said, ‘This is a vote for true freedom from criminal gangs. We are all fighting elections against PDM, Election Commission and ‘Namum Afrat’.
How will Imran Khan’s victory in the by-elections affect him?
Let us tell you that Imran Khan continues to demand elections after leaving power. On the other hand, the Shahbaz government is in no mood to hold elections early. This is the reason why Imran Khan talked about taking the ‘Long March’. Imran’s meetings are also attended by large crowds. It seems that Imran wants to understand the sentiments of the people and conduct the elections soon. Now the bypoll results also suggest that Imran Khan can deliver some ‘big’ results in the upcoming elections. On the other hand, the Shahbaz government is worried about Imran’s popularity. Government ministers report that Imran’s long walk will not guarantee security.
