“Coach Webber has provided selfless leadership to our college and basketball program over the past decade,” said the athletics director. In 10 seasons as head coach at K-State, Webber collected the overall record 184-147, including a mark of 82-98 in the Big 12 play, with 5 trips to the NCAA Championship (2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019) and a share From the Big 12 regular season title in both 2013 and 2019. His 2018 team made their first school trip to the Elite Eight in eight years.
Webber’s 184 wins are the third largest for a head coach in school history, after the Hall of Famers Jack Hartmann And the Fred “Tex” Winter. He is the fourth coach (Hartmann Winter and Frank Martin) for taking the school to at least five NCAA tournaments in a while. He was named Big 12 Coach of 2013 after leading the Wildcats to a 27-8 aggregate record and their first-ever Big 12 regular season championship.
Weber was named school 24y Head coach on March 31, 2012.
Webber, 65, has racked up a record 497-302 in 24 seasons as a head coach, which includes stints in Southern Illinois (1998-2003) and Illinois (2003-11). His teams have participated in post-season play 15 times, including 13 NCAA Championships. He won 15 NCAA Championship games, including trips to the Sweet 16 in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2018, and Elite Eight in 2005 and 2018, while playing in the NCAA Championships in 2005.
Webber is one of only 10 Division I coaches to transfer three schools to the Sweet 16.
Webber’s contract terms will be honored by K-State Athletics.
